I have always been a fan of hats. They are the often forgotten about accessory but that ends here and now. And I know some things go “in” and “out” of style (whatever that means) but if hats are a trend then they are definitely in! And there are no right or wrong styles….truly anything goes but I am including some of my favorite styles for you guys to shop.

I believe you can’t go wrong with hats. They absolutely elevate a look and bring it the next level. Not to mention they really do save you on a bad hair day, a day when you don’t have time to do your hair or for the all too common unwashed, dry shampoo isn’t gonna cut it, hair.

The main fashion advice I would give for hat wear is that many of them do have a season. What gives away the season for the hat is the fabric and the color. Felt hats for example or a jewel toned hat leans fall/winter where as a straw or soft pastel color is more for spring/summer. I do not advice wearing a black felt had in July nor do I advise wearing a pink straw hat in January….unless you are at the beach of course ;-)

My stylist hack for hats, when they are too big for your head, is foam or felt depending on how big the hat is. I have a small head and hats are often big on me even if I get the smallest size. So I take a strip of foam or felt and a hot glue gun or gorilla glue and put it around the inside of the hat. This will help the hat to fit your head better and you can adjust the foam or felt to give you the perfect fit.

My travel tip for hats, since they aren’t easy to pack, is that I wear the hat on the plane (and then put it in the overhead bin so I can lean my head back in the seat) this way I don’t have to worry about it getting smashed in my suitcase. And for baseball caps I fold the soft part inward and tuck them into the corner of my suitcase and fill it with soft things like socks or underwear.

If you don’t have any fashion hats in your closet then you should absolutely add them! And don’t give yourself that, “I can’t wear hats” or “I don’t look good in hats” nonsense, because that isn’t the case (I promise)! As with anything in fashion you just have to find the right one for you☺
