BEACH Wedding Wednesday

BEACH Wedding Wednesday

I am thrilled to announce a new series I am starting that will be continuing over the next couple months.  Every Wednesday will be dedicated to content focused on weddings.  Tons of great things for brides, bridesmaids, and wedding guest (and I will also be sharing tips for the guys as well).  So, make sure to stay tuned every week to see what the topic of the week is.
Fortunately, now that so much of the country is opening back up, weddings are happening again after taking quite a hiatus.  This week I am sharing some of my favorite looks for brides or friends of the bride for a beach wedding.  For me one thing I instantly think of when I think of beach wedding is a maxi dress.  I am always a fan of a maxi but it is just perfect for a tropical wedding.  Of course, there are always great shorter options available as well that I will be sharing!  Typically, a beach wedding is a bit more on the casual side, although not always the case.

For a typical beach wedding think of soft, flowy, and flirty!  And for a beach wedding I would stay away from styles that are structured, dark in color, heavily sequined (however the right sequin can work) or a heavy fabric.  Accessories should follow suit…. nothing too heavy or too layered and chunky.  Shoes should be simple, strappy, delicate (could even get away with a flat).  For layering a simple wrap or appropriate light jacket is perfect but it has to be the right jacket…you can’t just grab anything!  Bags should again be light, small, elegant and compliment your dress, no black clutches and definitely not your day bag ladies I don’t care who the designer is!

Ladies, when it comes time to helping your man there are some great options for guys.  If he is going to wear a suit, linen, seersucker, or a tropical fabric (like a tropical wool) in a light color would all be great options.  Nothing black or charcoal or navy.  And because it is a beach wedding, under most circumstances, a tie will probably not be necessary.  BUT add a pocket square for a great finishing touch!  This is also a great time to bring in the brighter hues if you can get your guy to wear them (which he should).  And if he needs to stick to the basics, “blue” then have him opt for a brighter shade of blue that will pop.  If he is going to wear a tie it too should reflect the nature of the suit and be brighter in color.  If your guy wants to be more basic in his suit a tie and/or pocket square is where he can really add another element and bring the color in there.  Many guys will at least be open to wearing color in a tie!  A sport coat with a pant is another fantastic option.  Again, going along the same ideas as I shared above.  And if the wedding is casual enough he could even wear a polo style shirt under the sport coat.  In my opinion, for a wedding, a guy should always wear a jacket whether it be a suit or a sport coat!  As for socks and shoes for a guy, once again depending on his personality, he may be willing to do a loafer without a sock;-) A really nice sneaker, like a crisp white, is also a fun trendy option with a suit or sport coat.  Whatever you do ladies do not let him wear his black shoes to a beach wedding.  Go for camel, blue, navy.  Also make sure the socks complete the look and aren’t just whatever he grabbed out of his sock drawer.

Stay tunes for next week’s Wedding Wednesday.  And I would love for you to share this blog with anyone going to a beach wedding!

XO!
