OUTDOOR Wedding Wednesday

Outdoor Wedded Bliss

Whether having a wedding in the mountains, a garden, or on a farm, there are so many venues that work for this style of dress.  I always have loved the idea of the bride mixing it up a bit and not always having to be completely in white for all the wedding events.  This dress from Anthropologie is perfect because it is still white but at the same time adds a beautiful floral print.  And it is perfect for a more laid-back wedding vibe.  I especially love this for a rehearsal dinner look but it also works for a bridal luncheon or bridal shower.  So much of a look has a lot to do with how you accessorize it.  The accessories really do make such a difference.

For example, if you wanted to wear this dress or one similar for a rehearsal diner I would had a beautiful heel (or possibly a dressy wedge), a fabulous earring, and a really great cuff or bracelet stack.  Taking this same dress, you could pair it with a chic flat and more simple jewelry for a luncheon or even a shower.  And if the wedding is more of a casual garden party or something in a barn you could follow those same guidelines.

Bridesmaids, friends, wedding guests, for wedding such as these I love something whimsical.  This blue and white floral ruffled dress is just perfect for the rehearsal dinner or even the wedding.  It really all depends on what the bride and groom specify on how they want their guests to dress.  Just like I mentioned for the brides this look can also change by how it is accessorized.  Once again, a beautiful shoe and stunning accessories elevate this look. But a metallic flat sandal, or a chunky wedge and denim jacket give it a completly different vibe.  Be thinking when picking an outfit to wear how you will accessorize it to make it right for the event.
Just as I mentioned for the beach wedding, there are options that would not be good for an outdoor wedding in the summer months.  Dark colors, really structured pieces, sequins (unless strategically done or if this happens to be more of a mountains with sequins kind of event) I would stay clear.  Be smart when choosing prints as not all prints work well for these kinds of weddings.

For the guys, they have options as well.  I normally am not one for jeans at a wedding but if the venue is right, a dressy jean with a sport coat could be a really nice option.  A chino and sport coat would be another perfect look for this type of wedding but for the groom I would still suggest he dress up more as it is his event.  But instead of a suit he could opt for a nice pair of slacks with a sport coat speaking of the rehearsal of course… for the wedding it is either a dressy suit or a tux my friend☺  Pattern mixing and bringing in some fun color, like a light blue pair of pants, or a sage green, or soft melon color could also be really great here.  You have more latitude to play with colors and patterns when doing a wedding outdoors, or in a more casual setting like a barn.  But I still echo what I said a couple weeks ago for the guys and that is even if they wear a jean pairing whatever they are wearing with a jacket is best.  Jackets can easily come off if needed☺

For the shopping links this week I am adding all varieties of options for outdoor weddings, that can work for any place from a farm to the mountain tops.  Included are options for the wedding itself, rehearsal, bridal luncheon, shower…. any event you might be going to I have included shopping options.  Just pay attention to what the dress code is that is specified and remember how you accessorize does make a difference.

Happy Shopping!
