DRESSING FOR THE HOLIDAYS (DURING A PANDEMIC)

Dressing for the holidays during a pandemic is not easy and let’s be honest not something we ever thought we would be concerning ourselves with.  So, I am spending this week giving styling tips on dressing for the next few weeks.

So here are your key holiday styling tips for the 2020 holiday season!

Sneakers and combat boots are two of the top trends for the season and possibly something missing from a closet.

Focus on pretty tops that can work easily with jeans or if you want to add a bit more style to your look wear a leather or colorful pant.  What can make a look like this stand out about is allowing color and print be the focus. Sometimes just a print and/or color (other than denim, black or something basic) can elevate your look without being too "over the top" for a more toned-down holiday season.

All the gorgeous tops gracing the racks right now make the perfect piece to make any outfit.  Especially white tops with lace, ruffles, eyelet.  It’s as simple as putting on one of these blouses and your favorite jean, accessorizing it well and you are ready for any holiday event.

Remember when wearing a sweater was mostly about something big and lumpy who’s main job was to keep you warm?  Well these days knits are on overdrive full of ruffles and frills, bold colors, prints, lurex and SO MUCH MORE!  So, these chic knits are perfect to pair with a jean, leather pant, or just throw it over a simple casual dress.  It is perfect for a more casual holiday night in or out.

Every year I talk about the winter white look.  And this year is no exception.  It is without a doubt one of my favorite combinations all winter but especially around the holidays.  This combination is just instantly fabulous.  And if white isn’t as much for you just think of doing a monochromatic color.  Dressing all in one color (various shades) you will instantly be chic and amazing!

Casual dresses are a fantastic way to dress this season.  Since we may not be getting all glammed up in our sequins, silk, and rhinestones we don’t have to give up our dresses entirely.  There are some wonderful options this year that are easy to throw on and make casual or even dress up that will go to your family dinners, church, girls’ white elephant party or whatever gatherings you are participating in this year.

And as I always say, how you accessorize your look can raise the stakes.  You can add all the jewels and layers, chunky belts, chain belts, and fabulous shoes or you can always opt for more simple accessories to make your look a bit more understated.

Even though nothing about 2020 has been normal or easy we still have so many things to be grateful for.  So, as we are celebrating this year, whether with just a few people or with various groups of people (or if you happen to be lucky enough to be traveling), still allow yourself to dress for the season.

Happy Holidays!

XO!
