I am forever on the hunt for great jewelry, especially pieces I can layer. I hate buying the really cheap pieces because they always tarnish and turn so quickly and so they are never worth purchasing in my opinion. I always seem to find the chunkier pieces easier to find☺ So, I am habitually on the lookout for affordable great jewelry especially pieces that layer well; and items that are not everywhere on every person you see.

One of my new favorite brands is Missoma. A few others I am really into right now James Michelle, Julie Vos, Jen Hansen, and eNewton. A couple of others that I like are Gorgana and Argento Vivo although I personally have had a few issues with both these brands. I have had stones fall out of my Gorgana pieces after only having had them for a few days and both of them have tarnished on me. However, Gorgana has a great policy and anytime you have an issue with a piece they will exchange it for a brand-new item.

One helpful tip when wearing costume jewelry is to be careful of how you store it and wear it.

Never spray perfume over the jewelry. I always put on my fragrance before putting jewelry on.
Don’t shower in it or wear it swimming or on the beach. If you do just be aware that it will not last as long
Take off your rings when you wash your hands
Store in a safe place and not out in the open where air can get to them
Make sure to travel with jewelry in cloth bags or a good traveling jewelry case
Purchase a tarnishing rag to polish up the pieces when they need a little love

In my opinion, there is no right or wrong way to layer jewelry. Some people like to keep it simple and others go by the motto that more is more! The only thing I personally do not like to do is have on so many layers that they lay on top of each other; I think each piece should be seen. I usually will layer either two or three necklaces at a time and often do the same with bracelets. Sometimes I will wear one bracelet with my watch and layer a couple on the other wrist. And for rings, I try and buy a variety of sizes so I can wear them on different fingers and also wear a ring or two that stay above my knuckle. Usually, when I layer jewelry, I use the more delicate pieces or items that are good to layer. When wearing really chunky earrings, necklaces or bracelets I personally do not usually like to layer those. I am not also big on layering big rhinestones... I usually let those pieces speak for themselves and be the only item I wear. However, I will often rock a big earring with a bold necklace or mix a great rhinestone earring with a fun neckpiece. I don’t believe it has to be one or the other….I guess you can put me in the more is more category! My detailed photos in my post this week will give show you what I mean.
