Getting “dunked” in the Jordan

Getting “dunked” in the Jordan

WOW!  I repeat WOW!  Because I have no words to describe my last few days in Israel except WOW!  We are seeing so much and experiencing so much that I don’t even know if I have fully processed it all just yet.  And if you asked me to pick a favorite thus far I truly don’t believe I could.  But an absolute highlight of the trip, so far, was getting baptized in the very river where Jesus, my Savior, was baptized.  It goes without saying it most definitely wasn’t the exact spot, or in the same way and was hardly in the exact same water as Jesus but for me it was about the symbolism of making that outward expression in such a holy place.

To be clear I have been baptized before.  Once as a baby (when it was no choice of my own and was the choice of my parents as a promise to raise me in “the church”, and then again in my 20’s once I realized that being baptized should be a decision I freely make.  An outward expression of an inward faith.  To be very clear I do not believe being baptized in Israel is any more meaningful or important than any other place you may be baptized.  As is everything in Christianity,  it is ALL about the heart.  And I feel I must add that in NO way do I believe being baptized is what takes away my sin or in any way does that guarantee my salvation.  I know that my blog and my Instagram are primarily a place for fashion and me offering up styling advice but I would feel remiss if I didn’t say that the only way I am guaranteed eternity in heaven is by the grace that has been given to me (that is free for EVERYONE) by Jesus death and resurrection on the cross.

What an amazing journey this has already been and I am just half way through my trip!  I will post a blog with all of my highlights, favorite things, where I stayed and all the info I can share once I am back in the states!

For now, from the Holy Land, I send you Shalom.

XO
