Desert Getaway

Desert Getaway

I hadn’t been to Palm Springs in over a decade so when we decided to take our girls trip there, I was super excited.  I don’t think I truly appreciated this place as much as I did after this trip.  I would go back in a New York minute!

Palm Springs is the epidemy of old Hollywood glam and I loved it all!  The décor is bright, with bold prints, palm leaves and cactuses everywhere.  It has a very unique and charming feel.  Palm Springs is also known for their architecture and design.  I came home with a new love of cactuses and old Hollywood and I will be putting these touches in my house one day!  I felt very inspired when I was there.

Palm Springs is so relaxing and such a fun vibe.  If you’ve never been - think spas, amazing restaurants, golf courses, shopping, hiking and lots of time spent outdoors.  I will say this is not a place you want to visit in the summer.  Late fall through late spring are the perfect times to visit.  And when you go that time of year the mornings and evenings are cool, and the days are dry warm and sunny!

Of course, there is great shopping…I mean it is California after all.  One of the highlights of shopping echo the old glam of the city with lots of vintage boutiques and resale stores.  That is where I scored my favorite pieces.  As I’ve mentioned many times I love to shop when I travel.  I enjoy shopping for specific pieces or in certain types of stores if there is a niche in a certain city or country.  Shopping as I travel adds to my memories so every time, I wear the item I remember where I was and who I was with when I bought it.

Our trip was amazing and of course not long enough.  Here are some of the highlights and favorites from my trip. I am also adding a few things that are on my list for next time.

RECENT BLOGS:

Hiking: Museum Trail (right in the heart of the town)

Take a drive to Joshua Tree and hike there.  It is a national park and totally worth the drive.

Take the tram in town and ride it up to the top.  The ride is amazing, and you can hike when you get up there and there are restaurants as well.

Shopping:

I’m listing few of the places I visited but there are so many other places to shop.  And as I mentioned above Palm Springs is known for their décor and artwork so there are so many amazing home stores and galleries to visit as well

Spa:

We went to La Quinta and it was lovely but had a hefty price tag.  This spa is about a 30 minute drive from Palm Springs in Palm Desert which is also where they have Coachella.  It could easily be a destination of its own as it would be a lovely place to stay.  And if you go there eat lunch at Twenty6 (it’s amazing!) https://www.laquintaresort.com/dining/twenty6/

Where To Stay

We rented a house and there are tons of great houses with pools and hot tubs and all the fun things to rent.  But if staying at a hotel or resort here are my suggestions from research I’ve done and recommendations from friends:
