What Goes Around Comes Around

As we all know, trends have a way of repeating themselves and this season we are seeing that tenfold.  Since the fall I have talked about a variety of trends that are reappearing.  Today I am going on focus on the retro trends from the ’90s.  Since I was a child of the '90s there are definitely trends I am not willing to revisit, but so many of them are really fun to add into my wardrobe for a 2nd time.  The key to doing a double take on a trend from years past is to find a way to make it work for you today.  And hear me say that just because something is “in fashion” doesn’t mean you have to wear it.  Feel confident in the styles you want to incorporate into your look and trust in your ability to know what you need to pass this time around.

Some fun trends that are getting an encore in my closet are funky sneakers, graphic t-shirts, ripped denim, over-the-top sunglasses, PVC accessories, mules as well as slingbacks, and bold colors.  Adding these fun pieces has given so much life into my wardrobe and getting dressed this spring has been so fun!

Whether you want to add a bold sneaker or biker shorts into your closet just remember to remain true to who you are and do so in a way that feels right to you.  And as I’ve said many times in the past, if something feels too much for you look at adding the trend through accessories.  If you feel it go bold like I’m doing in my look by adding several trends altogether and just “go for it”.  Or take one item, like the graphic tee, and pair it with skinny jeans or a denim skirt and a fun flat and simple crossbody bag.  If you decide to go for the funky jeans pair them with a simple white tank or even a colored t-shirt and a fun heel.  Bring the trends in piece by piece and let them evolve into your look.  It doesn’t matter if you choose to go for a head-to-toe look, adding one trend per outfit, or adding to your ensemble by using accessories... all are the perfect way to bring these redux styles into your spring and summer wardrobe!
